When I was growing up in the 80's, my parents had a GMC Motor Home. It was glorious; we would go down to the beach almost every weekend during the summer in it and chill. So pardon me if this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is high on my want list.
It's a 1976 GMC motor home, in the most "unique" color one can have. Literally, it has gone so far into the realm of disco that it's back in the "cool zone". Some may call it hipster, but I call it retro swag.
AND LOOK AT THIS INTERIOR!!!
Look at it!!!
How awesome is this?! I'm not even joking. I love it. Remember when great RVs didn't come with slide out rooms, WIFI, heated toilet paper holders, and every high tech gadget known to man? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Still not convinced? How about if I throw in the fact that it has a 455 Olds V8 with less than 62k original miles? If you still don't like it, you're most likely a Communist.
This ride has literally everything you NEED and nothing that gets in the way of experiencing the classic road trip. As a passenger, you can read a book, play a game (probably not Jinga), have conversations with your fellow travelers, and look at the sights. As the driver, you can feel proud that you're commanding a relic from the past that stands out from the pack.
Hell yeah

These really are awesome RV's (also because Stripes). That big ass Olds engine is a torque monster.

Those were some really beautiful motor homes. GM definitely styled them well. Probably a good thing they did not stick their V8 diesel in them. Can you say "shag"

It was definitely built for times with cheaper gasoline, though.

Shag is AWESOME. It's a bitch to keep clean, though.

Oh yes.

Olds Diesel didn't exist yet when these were built I don't believe.

I'd get it, but I'm afraid of what people would think about me.

You might be surprised.

Ok, one model year. My bad.
Motorhomes were 73-78, and the Diesel was 78-85. The FWD version, which was only a 6 cylinder, and oddly enough was called the LS2, didn't come out until 85. Which is important to note, because the GMC Motorhomes were FWD. Complete drivetrain assembly out of a Toronado.

They would think that you're badass and that the AC units are missile launchers. Zero downsides.

You'd get some thumbs ups, but you'd always have to worry if some of those people were meth heads.

Awesome R.V.! But, the question I have is, what car does one trailer behind such a huge assemblage of 70's style? It would, of course, have to be rather small, and lightweight. I'd go with a mid 70's VW Rabbit. Paint it the same shade of green, and travel the country in style.

We talk about renting an RV to take the kids across the American west. I could buy this, use it for the summer, wash it up, change the oil and sell it for the same price I bought it.

It's too cool to be ultra cheap.

Possibly. Get your checkbook out.

You better be able to drive through armored gates and fireballs. Otherwise I'm pretty sure Bill Murray is going to strangle you.

Thanks for bringing up terribly memories from my past which I had blocked out. I had to restore one of these once, total PITA! (That was the blocked out memory)
